  7.     SFAME is a full screen message reader and editor. It includes many
  8.   features that will make it easier for you to read and enter messages.
  9.   This guide will describe some of those feature and how to use SFAME
  10.   to read and enter messages.

  12.     The first thing you'll want to do when you enter SFAME is to enter
  13.   DOORWAY mode with your communication program. Most programs use the
  14.   keys Alt+= (hold down ALT and press =) to enter DOORWAY mode. If you
  15.   use SFAME with DOORWAY mode, you will be able to use the grey arrow
  16.   keys, the page up/page down, home and end keys. If you do not use
  17.   DOORWAY mode you must have your NUM LOCK ON and use the arrows,
  18.   pgup/pgdn, home and end keys on the number pad.

  23.     When you use SFAME for the first time, you should choose <I> from the
  24.   main menu and select the options you would like to use. You can select
  25.   the colors SFAME will use, choose an alias, and enter 2 taglines you
  26.   can place anywhere in your messages. You can also your address book which
  27.   will allow you to store up to 20 names or addresses. You can change your
  28.   settings any time by choosing <I> from the SFAME main menu.

  31.   Reading Messages
  32.   ────────────────
  33.     When your at the SFAME Main Menu, you can choose <R> to Read or
  34.   <L> to List messages. When you select a message to read, you will
  35.   next see the message reader screen with the message information on
  36.   the top of the screen and the text of the message on the bottom. You
  37.   can use the up/down arrows to scroll the message or you can use
  38.   pageup/pagedown to move the message up or down 1 screen. Use your
  39.   right/left arrow keys to read a different message. To list the
  40.   available commands, choose <H> for the Help screen. You can also
  41.   press <O> for a menu of commands. When your reading messages, you can
  42.   press <A> and the current message you are reading will be placed in
  43.   a QWK packet. You can then choose <F> from the SFAME main menu to
  44.   download your QWK packet. You can not reply to the messages you 
  45.   download. If you want to reply to the message your reading, choose <R>.

  47.     If you see [FILE] in the message information after the subject, that
  48.   means there is a file attached to this message. You can download
  49.   the file by choosing <J>. Choose <Q> to return to the SFAME Main Menu.

  52.   Entering Messages
  53.   ─────────────────
  54.     You can enter a message by choosing <E> from the main menu or while
  55.   reading messages. When you choose to enter a message, you will first be
  56.   asked for some information. The first question will ask you which
  57.   conference you would like to save the message in. You can enter a
  58.   conference number or press <Enter> to list the conferences. Next, if
  59.   the conference allows NetMail, you will select whether to send the
  60.   message by NetMail. You will then be asked who the message should be
  61.   sent to and a subject. When asked who you want the message addressed to,
  62.   you can enter A and view your address book. When viewing your address
  63.   book, you just select which address you want to use and SFAME will insert
  64.   that name in the message To: field for you. After you have entered the
  65.   information, you will then see the message editor screen. You can use
  66.   your arrow keys to move around in the editor screen. Press <Ctrl-Z>
  67.   (Hold down Ctrl and press Z) for a list of options available. You can
  68.   also press <Ctrl-X> for a menu of options. Some of the options are
  69.   <Ctrl-U> which will allow you to upload a message, <Ctrl-B> will allow
  70.   you to mark blocks of text you can then move, copy, or delete. If you
  71.   are replying to a message, you can also choose <Ctrl-Q> if you want to
  72.   quote the original message.

  74.     When you are done editing your message, press ESCAPE and you will be
  75.   asked if you want to <S>ave your message, <C>ontinue editing message,
  76.   <A>bort (Cancel) Message or <B>egin again. You will also see the option
  77.   Attach <F>ile if your Sysop allows files to be attached to messages. If
  78.   you choose <F>, you will then be allowed to upload a file that will be
  79.   attached to the message. When a user reads your message, they will be
  80.   able to download the file.

  82.     Note: If you are using Doorway mode, before uploading or downloading
  83.   a file, you might need to exit Doorway mode so you can use the PAGE UP
  84.   or PAGE DOWN keys to choose a transfer protocol. After the file transfer,
  85.   you can re-enter Doorway mode.

  87.   Groups
  88.   ──────
  89.     SFAME will allow the Sysop to place message conferences into groups.
  90.   A group can contain the conferences for a particular message network,
  91.   conferences with similar subjects or conferences grouped together for
  92.   any other reason. Choose <D> from the SFAME main menu if you want to
  93.   select a different group. You can choose <B> from the SFAME main menu
  94.   if you want to edit your group queue. If your Sysop has SFAME setup to
  95.   scan for your mail when you log-on, then SFAME will scan the conferences
  96.   in the groups you have selected in your group queue.

  98.   If you need help, press Ctl+Z and SFAME will display some help for the
  99.   current prompt or area you are in. The best way to learn how to use
  100.   SFAME is to simply try the different features. I think if you look
  101.   around SFAME and use it a few times, you will find it is very easy to use.
